Happy Mother’s Day!!

The one day out of the year that we celebrate US. Moms, grandmas, sisters, aunties, friends, and the list goes on.  Today, some of you will work like crazy in preparation to honor your families with brunch, lunch or dinner. Some will reminisce about their moms in heaven, wishing for one more day. Some will dream of the baby that has yet to come.  Other’s will be pampered and take a day “off”.

Is there truly a day that we get “off”?  We work, we teach, we love, we play, we take care of the sick, we nurse, we feed, we never, ever stop. Even when we’re “off” our mind and hearts are on.  It’s a full time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no sick days, no vacation days job.  It’s reading “Brown Bear” over and over again when you just want them to go to sleep.  It’s the “Mommy, can I have one more snuggle?” pleas that end up being the best part of your day.  It’s the peace you feel in your heart when you peek in over your sleeping child.  It’s thanking God for blessing you with this amazing, tiny human being. It’s hoping and praying you’re doing enough, loving them enough (Yes!  You are enough!). It’s wishing that time could slow down for just a little bit.  It’s the best job in the world!

Motherhood. I can’t help but love it.  And let’s be honest, some days, I wonder what in the world I am doing.  Not every day is peaches and cream. I recently told my husband that I will take a tantruming toddler over an arguing teen any day.  But when my toddlers were tantruming, I couldn’t wait for that time to pass.  Now that I’m here, in a completely different phase of life, what I wouldn’t give to go back and soak up those days just one more time.  And I know that when teen and tween grow up, I’m going to miss this part of life too. Life is fleeting. Life is busy. Life is rushed. Let’s slow it down for today and really take it all in.

Whatever journey of life you are on today, whether you’re expecting new life, raising little lives, or remembering past lives, I wish you a day full of happy, lots of giggles and smiles, and warm hearts.  YOU are an important part of someones life.  YOU are someone’s whole world.  YOU are enough!

I wish you a Happy Mother’s Day today and every day!
